Strangely Cisco have not made it easy to create ring tones for their IP telephones, but this post breaks it down step by step.

1) Download a program called WavePad Sound Editor (its free)

2) Download the ringtones you want in MP3 or WAV format

3) Open the files in WavePad Sound Editor

4) First change the sample rate to 8000.

5) Save the file in RAW format with these settings

6) Upload the RAW file to your TFTP server in the root and update your ring list XML file.

7) Within the phone’s settings you should now see the new ringtone(s)

Note, if the ringtone doesn’t sound to good try using the equaliser in the effects menu to find a pass that sounds better (trial and error i’m afraid).
